Lifestyle Inflation
« Back to Glossary Index
Definition: Lifestyle inflation occurs when a person’s spending increases as their income grows, often on non-essential items or services. This can make it difficult to save or build wealth, as higher earnings are offset by higher expenses.
Example: After receiving a raise, someone might upgrade their car, eat out more often, or subscribe to multiple streaming services, increasing their cost of living without boosting savings.
